Spinning Adventures January 21, 2012 With the recent addition of my Fricke spinning wheel, I am having fun with fiber. This was spun from an ugly batt from High Prairie Fiber. It is an incredible deal at $10 for one pound of fiber. Perfect for practice spinning without breaking the bank. Keep an eye out for more spinning updates. Last of Christmas Knitting January 13, 2012 I enjoy simple, practical knitting. This shows up in my holiday knitting. The women in my husband’s family love my knit dishcloths. They are requested every holiday season. My mom normally would receive dishcloths with her Christmas gifts. She moved in August 2011 to her new home. I knit her a set of 10, as a house warming gift. I decided to make her a simple scarf for her holiday gift. Sadly, I forgot to take a picture after it was blocked. The stitch definition was gorgeous. The finished length was 5 feet. Everyone was pleased with their simple gifts. It allowed me to enjoy the season while giving of my time and energy to our family. More Christmas Knitting January 9, 2012 For the family holiday knits, everything was kept simple. Everyone received super comfy slippers. I knit the men two pairs. The ladies were not short changed, I will share more gift pictures in my next post. For my Mom For husband’s Grandma Vaoma For husband’s Aunt Cindy For husband’s Uncle Larry For my brother, Rich Slipper socks are a family favorite because Ohio has cold winters. It is easy to make small changes to the patterns so everyone’s socks looks a little different. Christmas Knitting December 17, 2011 My Christmas knitting for 2011 is complete. Packages were mailed to friends and family this week. Some of those packages were received already. Dishcloths were knit for friends. They were gifted in sets of three. The pattern, sunburst dishcloth was found on Ravelry. My theme for knitted gifts this year was keep things simple, useful and small. It was an enjoyable experience as a knitter. I am hopeful that everyone enjoys their simple gifts knit with love. Pictures of more knitted gifts will be posted after the holidays. Merry Christmas! Socktoberfest 2011 updates November 4, 2011 My goal was to complete four pairs of beautiful socks during Socktoberfest. The knitting was completed by the end of October. The kitchener stitching wasn’t completed for a few more days. I still consider it a win. Week three: Feather the Fan socks Week four: Catnip socks Socktoberfest was so much fun. It has inspired me to knit more socks. In 2012, I plan to knit two pairs a month. The modest goal will allow plenty of time for charity knitting. |
